Are you planning any trips this holiday season? Travel is a big part of the holidays, and as much fun as it is, it can be very disruptive for our exercise routines. Luckily, Pilates is something you can make time for even while you’re away from home, or have guests in your own home, during this busy time of year.
Not sure you can fit Pilates in on your trip? Here are a few tricks to help!
Bring it with you – If you’re going to be traveling, bring your Pilates basics with you. Minimally, you can bring your mat and favorite set of exercise clothes. By doing this, you’re more likely to make a few minutes for practice, which is better than skipping exercise altogether.
Watch a video – If you’re not confident about practicing on your own, outside of class, you can always watch a video. While a video will never be able to replace the help of a live instructor who knows your strengths and needs, it can help you stay on track while you’re on the road.
Make it a priority – Most people admit that they feel better after they exercise, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get up and start moving. If you make it a priority, however, you’re more likely to stick to it. An easy way of doing this is by committing to it every day at the same time. For instance, if you’re away from home for the holidays, set aside a few minutes each morning or before bed to work out. This is free time that isn’t filled up with activities anyway, so you might as well make it your Pilates time!
One of the things that makes Pilates so great is that it can be done anytime, anywhere, even while you’re on the road. You don’t need to commit hours at a time and you don’t even have to hit the gym or brave the elements – you just need a little time and motivation!
